Cosmetic Dentistry at Edgewood Dental
Get Your Teeth In Line!
Did you know that one in four adults in the US could benefit from orthodontic therapy (traditionally, braces) but don’t? Most people cite inconvenience (such as having to go to the dentist every month for painful adjustments, and maintenance of traditional braces is a painstaking and time-consuming necessity) and ironically the effect that braces will have on their appearance!

They’re right! Traditional braces are a major investment of time (which is why most people who get them are children: who has more time than that demographic?), and those wires and brackets are unsightly. It’s a simple matter of weighing the pluses and minuses. Sure, braces will eventually give you a better smile, but when eventually means a year or more, that’s a price many aren’t willing to pay.

That’s why at Edgewood Dental, we offer Invisalign! Invisalign is an ideal orthodontic solution for adults and teenagers who are conscious of their time as well as their appearance.
Instead of ugly wires and brackets, Invisalign uses transparent, lightweight aligners made of plastic to gently guide your teeth into place. Where traditional braces are bonded to the teeth with wires pulling them into alignment, Invisalign works by using advanced imagery to create a series of aligners. You put in a new set every two weeks yourself as your teeth’s position changes. Because they’re removable, cleaning the aligners and your teeth is as easy as it ever was, and better oral health means a faster, more effective orthodontic treatment!

Lots of Ways to Get the “Pearliest” Whites
A dazzling white smile used to be something that was limited to the Hollywood set, but you can get a smile that is whiter and brighter than you ever imagined right here in Northern Kentucky! Teeth whitening and bleaching is the most popular form of cosmetic dentistry today: it’s non-invasive, virtually discomfort free (when performed by a dentist or under a dentists’ supervision), and the results can be dramatic.

We have three teeth whitening methods for you to choose from; which is most appropriate for you is based on your oral health needs and what method is most convenient for you (such as a preference for an in-office or at-home treatment).

KöR Deep Bleaching
KöR Deep Bleaching is ideal for you if you prefer to whiten your teeth in the comfort of your own home. Your dentist will prepare custom whitening trays that fit your teeth only. Their exact fit on your teeth and their slim form factor will make them comfortable for you to wear overnight. After an initial treatment in the dentist’s office, you’ll wear the trays with a deep bleaching gel for about two weeks while you sleep. The result is a white smile that is 16 shades whiter than before your treatment! Even better, with the right care and maintenance, a white smile from KöR Deep Bleaching is virtually permanent. KöR Deep Bleaching is also a great option for those with very sensitive teeth and gums; the gel is specially formulated to keep discomfort to a bare minimum (if there is any discomfort at all).

Zoom! Whitening
If you want a white smile, but time is at a premium, an in-office whitening treatment is for you. Zoom! Whitening can brighten your teeth’s appearance in just 45 minutes. Zoom! is a Philips innovation (a leader in lighting technology) that combines a powerful whitening gel with an LED light system to quickly and effectively whiten your smile in a single appointment. If you need to see results immediately, Zoom! is for you.

Laser Deep Bleaching
Laser Deep Bleaching is similar in speed and results to Zoom!,but instead of an LED lamp, a laser activates the whitening gel for greater precision.

Embarrassed by Damaged Teeth?
We’ve got you covered (literally) with dental bonding and porcelain veneers.

Dental Bonding
Dental bonding is a great way to cover teeth that are showing excessive signs of wear, have unsightly cracks, and stubborn stains caused by medications or disease. Your dentist covers them up with a special composite resin, a durable type of plastic that mimics the natural color of your teeth.
Dental bonding is a great option if you need to improve your smile if cost is a big factor.

Porcelain Veneers
Porcelain is used in dentistry because it is easy to maintain and keep clean, is very durable, and perhaps most importantly, porcelain interacts with light in the same way as your natural teeth. That means that it is very difficult, if not entirely impossible, for someone to be able to tell you have a porcelain restoration in place.

In dental bonding, a resin is applied directly to the teeth; porcelain veneers are custom-made specifically for your teeth, and are somewhat similar to press-on nails (although they last much, much longer). The custom veneers are cemented to the teeth’s surface, hiding damage and stains.

Gums and Fillings
When most people think of cosmetic dentistry, they often don’t think of treatments for gums and fillings, but we have them here!

Gum Reshaping
Gum reshaping is a procedure that is used to reduce the gums that appear to “overwhelm” the teeth. Gums can get this way as a result of genetics or disease, and many people don’t like how it affects their appearance. We make subtle changes to the appearance of the gums by removing small amounts of tissue, revealing more teeth and less gum (there is no threat to the overall health of your gums).

White Fillings
Another cosmetic issue for many people is the impact of traditional fillings on their smiles. Are those tiny black dots reducing the quality and appearance of your smile? We can replace them with white fillings. They’re made of durable composite resin, and they blend in with your natural teeth, creating a complete and aesthetically pleasing appearance.
