This is Gum Disease Awareness Month. We recognize that you probably aren’t going to have in-depth conversations about this topic, but it’s something everyone should have basic knowledge about.
1. Be Aware of Symptoms
You should seek gum disease treatment if you see any of these symptoms:
- Bleeding gums
- Red, swollen gums
- Receding gums
- Loose teeth
- Constant bad breath
Healthy gums are pink and firm and don’t bleed.
2. Come Here for Treatment
If you do notice signs of periodontal problems, do not wait to get help. Gum disease is one of the leading causes of tooth loss in the United States. Early treatment is the best way to avoid this consequence.
3. Do More Than Brushing
You are probably brushing your teeth already. However, surveys show that less than half of all people floss daily, and many people don’t get professional checkups as often as they should. Your oral care routine needs all three to reduce your risk of gum problems.
