Back in the eighties, I had to have crowns on a lot of my teeth, and I thought I was quite young to have it done, but they did it anyway. It was not by Edgewood Dental. It was by another doctor. Of course, I hadn’t met them then, but I needed 12 crowns, and so this being back in the eighties, I knew that this was time to do something about this.
I also teach school, and so there were certain things that I wanted to accomplish before I quit teaching school and before I retired, and that was one of the major things was that I wanted to replace. At that point in time, I was a patient of Dr. Gutman, but then Dr. Gutman left and I became Dr. Peak’s patient, and he and I discussed the replacement of the crowns. We did, and it was over the course of a while, and it started while I was teaching school, but then it continued into my retirement.
It was a good year, longer maybe, maybe year and a half, but it was a progression that was a beautiful experience. I’m glad I did it. I’m glad I had it done, and now I just think that my mouth is so much in better shape. I love the looks of it, because the other doctor had replaced them with gold crowns and then some other types, I don’t know what types they are, but it wasn’t a uniform look. I love it now.
And then also, under almost every one of the crowns was decay in teeth that was left, and I’m so thankful. I’m so thankful that we did that. And it was over and it was finished in January of this year, and I’m sorry it’s done, because it was a beautiful experience.

Actually, had two teeth pulled by them. One was a wisdom tooth. I still had all four of them until a couple of months ago. You know, they got to the root of the problem, so to speak. No pun intended. And, just very thorough. You know, they can do, pretty much, anything they need to do here.
Well, as I said, I have all four wisdom teeth. So it wasn’t like one where they had to cut it out. They’re all exposed. And I have a crown on the tooth next to it, so there was some concern that that could be a problem. But the dentist just pulled it right out.
They did a good job of Novocaining it up, you know. They do that in two steps, so it doesn’t really hurt. No, I didn’t feel anything during the actual procedure.

I am a person who didn’t like to come to the dentist, until I came here and they made me comfortable, they treated me with respect. Everything is always on time. It is just a great place. It has become more of a family to me since I’ve been coming here for 18 years now. A couple of our friends come here now and they are all like ‘wow, what happened, did you do something different’ because they don’t know right away that it is your teeth that has changed. I have paid a lot of people compliments in where do I go and it is hard to get people to change their dentist because they have been going to their dentist for so long and to get people to understand the real environment here and the good care. I have TMJ for one thing so I can’t open my jaw fully for any length of time and they are always concerned about that and they always make sure to let me relax my jaw and they do anything to keep me comfortable. I will say I have a very small mouth so it is very hard for them to get in there but they always manage to make me comfortable and I leave feeling great and I like coming in because the staff is so friendly and like I said, they are like family.
My teeth were never straight. I always had problems and was self-conscious about my teeth. I got my teeth bonded and then got veneers. They are just straight and white and when you have a pretty smile, you feel so much better about yourself. Lots of people, they are scared to go to the dentist and myself and my family, we’re not because we have such a good atmosphere, good dentist, good hygienist. If you have something wrong with your teeth, you want to make sure the right person fixes it. So Dr. McMahon, whenever my husband or my son, whenever we have root canals, most people are terrified of this but if I have to have one, it is no big deal to me because it is not painful. So when I talk to people, I will say “if you want a good dentist, I always recommend them”.
I tell you what, I have been coming here for more years than I care to admit but I have been a patient of Dr. McMahon’s for a long time. He has never steered me wrong. The staff here is fantastic and friendly and I kind of got to know the people after a while and it is a really nice place for dental work and implant work that I just recently had. I had to have a tooth extracted and there are several different options that you can do for a replacement and we went with the implant system and the way he explained it, I knew exactly what he was doing and the precision instruments he uses really interested me and everything went well. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would give it an 11. To be honest with you, I recommend it very highly and I have lived in several different cities around the United States. I’ve been here the longest so I’ve been coming to this place the longest and I’m very pleased with everybody here. The whole staff, the doctor, the hygienist; everybody is just great.
Well, I am of the age where cavities were a routine thing, and I hated going to the dentist. In fact, I started putting fluoride in the water when my youngest sister was … right after she was born, and she’s the only one in my family of nine kids that never had any cavities. So, we all hated her for that, but you know, it was a great thing.
So, going to the dentist could be a terror-stricken thing, particularly since my dad said, “You don’t need Novocain.” So, we would go and have four cavities filled with no Novocain, and that was quite painful, and just the idea of walking past the dentist office was unpleasant to me. Obviously, they’ve made great strides since then, and this place is very good at setting a relaxing atmosphere, seeing to whatever you need. Again, you know, just people being nice really makes a difference.

I like everything about this place, the staff is remarkable. I have been coming here for over 18 years and I can honestly say, I am one who looks forward to my dental visits. Periodontal disease runs in my family so I was very concerned about that so Dr. McMahon has worked with me over the years so I have been able to save my teeth. I even had the laser surgery done on my gums and that helped tremendously and because of that, I was able to save my teeth and my gums are much healthier today. They offer procedures that maybe other dental offices do not and I appreciate that about them. They are always sending us information through the mail as to the latest technology and so forth so I really appreciate that.
Oh my gosh, I wish every office was like this one including doctor’s offices because it is comfortable and they make you feel homey here. It is bright, sunny and clean, everything is just nice. A lot of the same people have worked here for many years so they are friendly, they know my name, I feel comfortable with them so that just shows that so many people stay and work here for an extended amount of time and that says a lot about the doctors. I’m never nervous about any procedures; I know that Dr. McMahon is pretty much the best at everything he does. You know he is very lighthearted and funny and that makes you feel comfortable and he also, of course, when he is working he is very professional and everything too. It is nice to feel at home, you can talk to them about anything and just laugh since I’ve been here for over 30 years.
I did not go to the dentist for many years due to an incredibly strong fear but circumstances forced me to have to go to a dentist. I got a flyer in the mail from Edgewood Dental that said something about fear and sedation can be used and that type of thing so I came here and I talked to Dr. McMahon, I explained my fear completely to him and he assured me that I was not the only person he had dealt with that had this specific type of fear and he assured me that everything would be fine. So, eight crowns and an implant later, my fear is gone. They treated me with the utmost gentleness and respect that they could and I was very impressed by that. I don’t know how he does it but there is no pain involved. Also, with the numbing injections that you get, that man can inject Novocaine into your gum and you don’t feel it. I asked him, “how can you do this” and he said “I don’t know I have a little trick, I have a little trick”. I said “okay whatever, I don’t really care as long as you can do it , that’s good with me”.
I’ve been coming here for at least 20 years. I started out with Dr. McMahon and just stayed with him. He is just real professional. He is a friendly person and he knows that I’m kind of sensitive and kind of afraid of the dentist so he has just always been great. He puts me at ease and he has just done a great job. I had very crooked front teeth, just kind of misshaped and I asked if I could get braces and he said “you could, they would straighten your teeth but they still wouldn’t look that good” and that wasn’t what I wanted so he suggested putting crowns on just my front teeth and we went over the cost and my insurance and it was feasible and he did it in a day. I work in a customer service environment at the hospital and just talking to people all day long, you want to be able to smile and feel comfortable about it so I just feel better about myself.
I’ve known Dr. McMahon for 25 years and so when I first moved here, he was a nice friendly guy and I say well I will go to him and I really liked it. It is always clean, they are always on time, the staff is super nice, they remember you, they are professional but you can still have a good time and crack up a little bit or just be yourself. I think people are afraid of the dentist, I don’t want to go, it is going to hurt, they are going to drill and I’m like no, Mac is fun. His bedside manner is so easy, he is going to make you feel comfortable. The staff is going to make you feel comfortable. I always leave happy, like I don’t leave going, ouch that hurt or I don’t want to go back there. It’s not a bad experience and it is a fun experience. It is welcoming from the minute you walk in the door. You know, he has coffee, tea or water whenever you come in and then you are leaving and there are cookies, I think that’s how they get you back.
Melissa is the hygienist and she is wonderful. I have known her for a really long time and we went to high school together. She cleaned my teeth a long time ago and then I didn’t see her and she is the reason I came back. I never really had a fear of going until they hit my nerve at another dentist, which they can’t help that but some of the work I had done prior just didn’t have as good a quality as I thought so things happened and that is when I was telling them that there were a lot of different experiences that I had that were negative, as well as my husband did. So I had told Melissa, because we are friends, and I had told her and she said “come here”. I can say that she and Dr. Peak have really helped with a lot of of that and I don’t have a fear or get the white knuckle thing when I’m sitting there anticipating but they always work really well and when my daughter sees him, he answers all the questions and he will talk to her on her level and it makes her feel so much more comfortable as well.

Initially my wife became a patient here before I was and my daughters come here as well and I know that the care they have received is really outstanding and they couldn’t help but tell me how positive the experience was here so I eventually came on board as well so now we trust our whole family’s dental health to this practice. From the time you walk in the door till the time you leave, you are treated with utmost respect and professionalism and they really go above and beyond to make sure your appointments are on your terms, they are very flexible and they have been able to fit me in in the few times I have needed emergency care. They are very good at explaining from a procedure that you need to the billing information. They have dealt with my insurance company for me on many occasions and these days, that can be very complicated. My kids love Miss Melissa, she is their dental hygienist and she does a great job cleaning the sugar bugs out of their teeth. They really don’t dread coming here at all, they actually look forward to visiting with Miss Melissa so that is something you can’t really put a price on.
I came for my first visit to have some issues I had from another dentist fixed. They did a wonderful job. It was kind of overwhelming how friendly and happy everybody was all the time. I’m not used to that with the commercial field so it was really nice. I brought the boys in, we decided to do them both at the same time and the youngest one with the heart issue, we did just a look so they just made it look fun and exciting so that when we come back, he is ready to do this. Both of them had so much fun, which is not our typical dental visit so it made me very happy, as long as they are having a good time I’m excited because I want this to be like a long term relationship. I want them to come the whole time they are growing up, I want our records to be here, I want them to be excited and look forward to it and eventually their kids come. So I’m very thankful that we found this place and I’m so excited that my kids are going to be coming here and that I don’t have to worry about it anymore. They work with the insurance for us, they make everything so easy. I know ahead of time what to expect and it feels like family. They take time to talk to you and ask how are you doing, how have you been, a lot of things that other places just don’t have time to do.
I love Dr. McMahon. I have been going to him for probably 15 years now. I was pretty much traumatized at other dentists that I went to. I had several teeth that were pulled out, they pulled the wrong teeth out, just had a very bad experience and just hated to have the drilling done. I couldn’t stand the noise, the Novocaine shots, the whole works, bad. While Dr. McMahon has this stuff I call a happy gas, I don’t know what it is really but I feel totally at ease, no pain, nothing, it is very enjoyable and he talks to me through the whole thing, what I can remember. It is just great and I love it. He explained everything that was going to happen and how I had to care for my teeth from now on if I wanted everything to stay the way it was. I am just so happy. I have recommended this place to everybody I talk to. I get compliments from everybody and typically they said your teeth are so white and I say “I know, aren’t they beautiful” and then I get to tell they why they look so nice. It has just really helped me.
I first met Dr. McMahon, it has been approximately, well it has been over 20 years now. I was blessed with soft enamel and I played hockey for 26 years so I’ve always had some teeth problems. Over the 20 years, Dr. McMahon has done root canals, extractions, I have a brand new implant that he just put in for me, and one of the big things I think most people have issues with dentistry is there is nothing pleasant about it or they perceive that there is nothing pleasant about it or they have had a bad experience and I have had several bad experiences and Dr. McMahon assured me, he was like “you are not going to feel any pain here” and of all the things I mentioned, root canal, extractions and implants, I’ve never walked out of here in pain, I’ve never sat at home in pain and the results have always been very good. His staff is excellent. Nobody goes to a dentist looking for a friend or looking to have a problem taken care of or just general maintenance but over the years I’ve developed a friendship with quite a few of them and Dr. McMahon in particular. It has been a pleasure coming here.

I love this practice. I have just complete confidence and faith in this practice. I started coming before I had children; I was married, and now my husband and both of my children come here, they are 10 and 12 and my 12 year old is having braces done, orthodontia. When I came to Dr. McMahon, I think I was 28 or so, and I just needed a lot of work done so he did a lot of veneers and crowns and just a tremendous amount of work. He is just fantastic, he is so easy going, he is so professional, they always have like the top of the line equipment, wait times are super and all the people who work here; Karissa is usually who we have for a hygienist and all the others are just great.
It is very, very comfortable. Everyone is incredibly friendly. It doesn’t feel like you are coming to the dentist. In the past, I had a long spell for a long time where I had not been to the dentist. My previous experiences were not that great and then I found this place because I needed to get my act together and I was very impressed, I was astonished at how far dentistry has come in terms of technology. They have wonderful, big thick seated pads to lay on while you are being worked on, TV’s in all the rooms and great views so it just makes you feel really, really at ease. I had my first root canal here and I had heard horror stories about it with people saying “oh you are going to be in so much pain, you won’t be able to eat for a week”, and it was nothing, it was not bad at all, not painful, I mean they do a great job of numbing you up and taking good care of you so it helped me to let my guard down on all the fears I had about dental procedures. The next time I have to have something major done, hopefully not any time soon, but I’m not going to be worried about it because I know they’ve got it and everything is going to be great.
I’ve been coming here for six years and from the first day, they seem to be like friends and family. You know they have treated me very well and no pain, I hate shots but you get a little sting and after that, everything is good. Compared to the other dentist I was going to before Dr. McMahon, he was a caveman with old, outdated tools. Dr. McMahon has the instant x-rays or impressions where it almost instantly comes up on the screen for me to see. He doesn’t tell me what it looks like, he shows me what it looks like and I’m still sitting in the chair watching it right on the screen and that was good for me. He does it at different angles, the 3D dimensional and all that kind of stuff which helps me understand what is going to be put in my mouth.
