It’s no surprise that families come from all over northern Kentucky and even the Cincinnati area to visit Edgewood Dental Care. Clear Stains & Bacteria with Dental Cleanings

All it takes is two quick trips a year to help keep your kids cavity-free. Although cavities are commonplace (about half of kids 11 and under will end up with one), we can at least provide the professional care that supplements their home care.
Dental cleanings allow our hygienists a chance to get into all the places your kids can’t, even if they’re consistent with brushing and flossing. When they clean out all the spaces between teeth and polish the teeth, your kids will have prouder, cleaner smiles. Older kids especially appreciate the look of clean teeth, as they tend to be more self-conscious about their appearance.
For extra decay-fighting power, we might recommend sealants and fluoride. These are inexpensive ways to prevent decay and fillings, and a lot of insurance policies cover this preventive dental care.

Your child’s biannual cleanings also give their dentist a chance to catch any problems before they become more expensive and time-consuming to fix. Although we can repair just about any problem with any smile, we prefer to keep teeth in tact and healthy!

Bring your preschooler or college student in for their checkups by calling today. We offer convenient hours so your kid and you don’t have to miss school and work. Come in as early as 7, leave as late as 7, or even schedule on Saturday!

A Wide Range of Orthodontics Ensures We Can Straighten Smiles

Sometimes cleanings and exams aren’t enough for your child to have a healthy, attractive smile. If an overbite, underbite, or crooked, gapped, or crowded teeth mark your child’s smile, it’s time for an orthodontic consultation. We understand children can be embarrassed by problems like crooked teeth. But there’s more to orthodontics than cosmetics. Not only can we improve the appearance of a smile, but we can also improve oral health.

Think about it – gaps between teeth leave bigger openings for bacteria to accumulate. Crowded teeth mean food debris can stay wedged between teeth, even after brushing and flossing. Bad bites can even lead to jaw pain and speech problems.
Let us improve the health and appearance of your child’s smile. We offer:

  • Metal braces – great for tough issues and for kids, who like colored bands and who may not be compliant with other orthodontic solutions like aligners
  • Ceramic braces – great for older teens who want a more subtle option but still could benefit most from traditional braces
  • Invisalign – an even more subtle option that offers older teens (and adults!) an option without metal, with aligners that fit your teen’s lifestyle since they’re clear and removable
  • Fastbraces – a less expensive, quick option for more cosmetic improvements and mild misalignments that can have your teen’s teeth straight before the school year is out

We Can Do Wisdom Teeth Removal Too

So, your kid may not need a specialist for orthodontics. They also may not need one for wisdom tooth extraction, either! It’s just another way we make family dentistry convenient for you.

Thanks to our doctors’ extensive training, they are qualified to gently remove wisdom teeth right here. Many general dentists don’t offer this service, and even the ones who do usually don’t have IV sedation as an option. We’re trained to do both.
We often recommend IV sedation during this procedure because:

  • It provides a dreamlike state so your child is totally relaxed.
  • Your child doesn’t have to remember the sights or sounds of their treatment.
  • They won’t feel pain, either.
  • They can get the procedure done more quickly and safely. That’s especially true if they have a gag reflex or just don’t like the dentist.

We have state-of-the-art digital imaging that shows us the details, like the bone and nerves, so we can plan the best way to remove these teeth. We’ll keep an eye out during your teen’s regular exams to see if and when a wisdom tooth removal is needed. If we recommend one for your teen, the sooner, the better. Problems with impacted wisdom teeth, root problems, and higher chance of decay and disease –  not to mention pain – increase with age.

If you’re worried about cost, insurance often covers a portion. And we have financing options to help cover the rest.

Don’t Forget About Mouthguards

If your child is playing sports this year, please don’t neglect their mouths! It’s shocking how many teeth have been lost or permanently damaged because kids didn’t wear mouthguards during athletics. Sometimes kids have mouthguards from the store or online but don’t wear them because they’re uncomfortable.
We create custom mouthguards that fit well. Your kids are more likely to wear them – and more likely to prevent injury and dental emergencies as a result.

We’re More Than Just a Comfortable, Convenient Office

The services above are just a small sampling of how our dentists can care for your smiles. We can take care of everything your kids need in one place … and everything you need, too! Call 859-474-7830 or use our online form to visit at a time that’s right for you.

Sure, we offer convenience, but our bedside manner and genuine concern are other reasons our Edgewood family dentist office has received the Angie’s List Super Service Award, among other recognitions. It’s the reason we’re still here serving families more than three decades later.
