A lot of our adult patients at Edgewood Dental Care have expressed a desire for straighter teeth. Many of those same patients also tell us that there’s no way they could see themselves in braces – as an adult there just isn’t time for years of uncomfortable, ugly, and embarrassing orthodontic therapy. Those patients are right – you don’t have time for that when you’re trying to balance a career and a family!
Thankfully you don’t have to! Our Edgewood dentist office has two great orthodontic solutions for adults that will have your smile looking great in less time and all without the distracting look of traditional braces. Depending on your treatment needs you could have a beautiful smile in less than a year!
Great Results In Less Time: Invisalign And Fastbraces
Patients who are looking for short-term solutions to their smile problems should consider Invisalign and Fastbraces. Both of these solutions are ideal for getting results in less time but have different ways of going about it. They are also suited to different kinds of correction needs.
Invisalign is a great way to correct mild to moderate teeth alignment issues. Treatment generally takes about a year and will correct cosmetic as well as mild bite problems. Invisalign uses a series of clear plastic aligners that move your teeth bit by bit. You replace the aligners with a new one every two weeks so that your teeth move a little more. By the time you’re ready for a new aligner the old one will feel comfortable – that means you’re ready for more adjustment!
We make our Invisalign treatment sequence using the advance iTero scanner. This device is a combination of hardware and software that allows us to plan treatment tooth by tooth and week by week. We’ll tell the computer where we want each tooth to end up and it will do all the work to make the most efficient and effective plan possible! By the time your treatment is over you’ll have a perfect look that’s exactly what you want it to be!
Fastbraces are just what they sound like – fast! Depending on your needs Fastbraces can take as little as 20 weeks – that’s only five months! Fastbraces are ideal for patients with mild correction needs and they’re still visible. The great part is that they take practically no time at all!
The secret behind Fastbraces amazing speed is their redesigned wires and brackets. Traditional orthodontic treatment uses square brackets and round wires but Fastbraces mixes it up: your brackets will be triangular and the wire is actually square shaped. When combined these two differences mean more space between brackets and more efficient use of force. This speeds them up without any additional discomfort or pain!
Fastbraces are lower profile than traditional orthodontics but they are still able to be easily seen. The tradeoff is that five month treatment minimum – if you had them put on today you could be out of them by mid March!
Traditional Treatment: Now In Invisible!
If you’ve been living with a severely bad bite or a lot of misaligned teeth neither Invisalign nor Fastbraces may be ideal for you. But that doesn’t mean you can’t get a beautiful new look without people noticing! We offer orthodontic treatment with braces made of tooth-colored ceramic so that you can correct your smile without the burden of “metal mouth!”
Our ceramic braces use unique brackets, cement, and wires that will perfectly blend with your teeth, allowing you to correct your smile discreetly. You won’t have to worry about being embarrassed, self-conscious, or avoid social situations because of your braces – only a really close look will reveal that they’re there!
Ceramic braces will generally take just as long as traditional orthodontic treatment – they’re designed to do the same thorough work. The reason to get ceramic braces is purely because you need traditional orthodontics but can’t slow down to wear metal – they’re a great solution!
