Metal Braces
Traditional metal braces have been around for years and are a popular choice for patients of all ages. This type of orthodontic treatment uses metal brackets that are adhered to your teeth as well as a wire that connects them, to gently and gradually reposition your teeth.
If you have metal braces, you will need to come to our office every 4-6 weeks so that we can tighten or replace your wire. This ensures your treatment progresses as it should and correctly moves your teeth into place. On average, traditional metal braces are worn for 18 months to 3 years.
Ceramic Braces
If you want the same kind of treatment and results offered by metal braces, without having a mouth full of metal, ceramic braces are another option. Ceramic braces usually cost more than metal braces, but the brackets are the color of your teeth so they aren’t as noticeable.
Clear Aligners
If you would rather skip the brackets and wires altogether, you can see if you would be a candidate for clear aligners. Clear aligners are see-through plastic trays that are custom-made to fit over your teeth.
Unlike metal braces, clear aligners are removable and should be removed when you eat, brush, and floss. Clear aligners work best for patients with mild to moderate orthodontal issues and require quite a bit of self-discipline. To gradually reposition your teeth, you replace your aligners every two weeks and see your dentist regularly for a checkup.
Full-Banded Braces
Most people will not need these. They work similarly to metal and ceramic braces. However, this including full bands that go around the tooth. Typically, would be used in cases of severe misalignments. On the other hand, this lets you know that we can probably help you create a straight smile no matter how misaligned you believe your teeth may be.
